{"id":6375,"date":"2023-03-15T10:07:29","date_gmt":"2023-03-15T04:37:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=6375"},"modified":"2025-03-27T14:27:45","modified_gmt":"2025-03-27T08:57:45","slug":"h3n2-influenza","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/h3n2-influenza\/","title":{"rendered":"H3N2 influenza"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About H3N2 influenza:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Influenza A<\/strong> H3N2 is <strong>a seasonal virus<\/strong> and the occurrence of influenza infections normally peaks during season changes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Symptoms-<\/strong> Fever, body ache, sore throat, cough, runny\/blocked nose and a few shortness of breath.<\/li>\n<li>It can spread from person to person and while anyone can get infected- older, adults and younger children are at a higher risk from H3N2.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>method of testing <\/strong>for H3N2 is also <strong>similar to COVID-19 testing<\/strong> \u2013 RTPCR.<\/li>\n<li>There is a <strong>vaccine for seasonal flu that also covers H3N2.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Seasonal influenza:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>According to WHO, seasonal influenza is an <strong>acute respiratory infection<\/strong> caused by influenza viruses.<\/li>\n<li>There are <strong>4 types of seasonal influenza viruses,<\/strong> types &#8211; A, B, C and D. In which Influenza viruses <strong>A, B, and C can infect humans.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Influenza A viruses are further classified into subtypes according to the combinations of <strong>the hemagglutinin (HA) and the neuraminidase (NA), the proteins<\/strong> on the surface of the virus.<\/li>\n<li>There are 18 different subtypes of HA, which are numbered H1 through H18. Similarly, there are 11 different subtypes of NA, numbered N1 through N11.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is Hemagglutination?<\/h3>\n<p>Hemagglutination is a reaction that causes clumping of red blood cells in presence of some enveloped viruses, such as the influenza virus.
