{"id":64193,"date":"2025-09-19T12:48:52","date_gmt":"2025-09-19T07:18:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=64193"},"modified":"2025-09-19T15:04:01","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T09:34:01","slug":"faos-technical-cooperation-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/faos-technical-cooperation-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"FAO\u2019s Technical Cooperation Programme"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>FAO\u2019s Technical Cooperation Programme Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying has signed a Technical Cooperation Programme (TCP) agreement with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to strengthen Blue Port infrastructure in India.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About FAO\u2019s Technical Cooperation Programme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was created to <\/span><b>enable FAO to make its know-how and technical expertise<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> available to member countries upon request.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Purpose:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> To help countries improve their <\/span><b>population\u2019s food security and alleviate poverty with lasting impact<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Goal:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> To <\/span><b>assist in solving technical problems<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in crop production, livestock, fisheries and aquaculture, forestry, nutrition, food safety, rural development and other areas identified in the Country Programming Framework (CPF).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Funding:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The Technical Cooperation Programme is part of FAO\u2019s Regular Programme budget. This means that TCP <\/span><b>funds come directly from the dues paid by <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/food-and-agriculture-organization\/\" target=\"_blank\">FAO<\/a> members.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The FAO\u2019s TCP programme on \u2018<\/span><b>Strengthening of Blue Ports\u2019 intends:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To assist the GoI to strengthen the fishing ports&#8217; technical capacities to address the main environmental, social and economic challenges that affect the aquatic value chain.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Two pilot fishing ports <\/span><b>Vanakbara (Diu) and Jakhau in Gujarat<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, will benefit from this TCP that will provide them with specific strategic and operational tools to identify and formulate investment projects.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>\u00a0Key Facts about Blue Ports framework<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under framework, the DoF is leading the development of <\/span><b>Smart and Integrated Fishing Harbours<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that combine technological innovation with environmental stewardship.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Three pilot harbours namely <\/span><b>Vanakbara (Diu), Karaikal (Puducherry), and Jakhau (Gujarat)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have been approved.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These modern harbours aim to <\/span><b>revolutionize post-harvest fisheries infrastructure<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by\u00a0 Ensuring safer, cleaner, and more efficient operations for India\u2019s fishing communities.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is supported under the <\/span><b>Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana and it involves<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Integrates smart technologies: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Such as IoT devices, sensor networks, satellite communication, and data analytics to streamline harbour operations and enable real-time decision-making.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Eco-friendly features<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Rainwater harvesting, energy-efficient lighting, electric-powered equipment, and robust waste management systems etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2168021\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PIB<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FAO\u2019s Technical Cooperation Programme was created to enable FAO to make its know-how and technical expertise available to member countries upon request.
