{"id":6427,"date":"2026-05-20T12:16:41","date_gmt":"2026-05-20T06:46:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=6427"},"modified":"2026-05-20T14:16:19","modified_gmt":"2026-05-20T08:46:19","slug":"kumbhalgarh-fort","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/kumbhalgarh-fort\/","title":{"rendered":"Kumbhalgarh Fort"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Kumbhalgarh Fort Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kumbhalgarh Fort Wall in Rajasthan, often called the Great Wall of India, has been named the second-longest surviving wall in the world by a UNESCO survey.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Kumbhalgarh Fort<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is located in the Rajsamand district of <\/span><b>Rajasthan<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is strategically located in the <\/span><b>western Aravalli hills.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Considered to be the <\/span><b>second most significant citadel in the Mewar region after Chittorgarh,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> this majestic fort was <\/span><b>constructed <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in the<\/span><b> 15th century AD by Rana Kumbha, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the<\/span><b> ruler of the Kingdom of Mewar.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The massive fort is 3,600 feet tall.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Spanning over 36 kilometers, its walls<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are <\/span><b>second only to the Great Wall of China, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">earning it the moniker \u201cthe<\/span><b> Great Wall of India.\u201d\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The fort has also been designated a<\/span><b> UNESCO World Heritage Site<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as part of the group of Hill Forts of Rajasthan.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The fort contains seven fortified gateways and over <\/span><b>360 ancient temples\u2014both Hindu and Jain,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as well as th<\/span><b>e Lakhola Tank<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the most famous tank within the fort, which was built by Rana Lakha.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For centuries, Kumbhalgarh Fort served as a <\/span><b>refuge for Mewar rulers during times of war.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the <\/span><b>birthplace <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of <\/span><b>Mewar\u2019s legendary king, Maharana Pratap<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
