migration deal with France, which swaps illegal arrivals for approved asylum seekers.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About One-In, One-Out Scheme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>migration agreement<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> between the<\/span><b> UK and France.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The deal is aimed at <\/span><b>deterring migrants<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from making dangerous<\/span><b> trips across the English Channel from France to the UK in small boats.<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many <\/span><b>migrants without visas or permits departing France<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by sea attempt to <\/span><b>cross to the UK in small, inflatable boats.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They frequently <\/span><b>pay large sums of money to gangs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> who arrange the boats in northern France.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Journeys can be incredibly dangerous, and people have died making the crossing.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Under the new agreement<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>France <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will agree to <\/span><b>take back asylum seekers <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">who have <\/span><b>crossed over to the UK and who cannot prove a family connection to the UK.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>For each migrant France takes back,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the <\/span><b>UK will grant asylum to one migrant from France who can prove a family connection to the UK<\/b> <b>and who have not previously attempted to enter the country illegally.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The plan will <\/span><b>start as a pilot<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with initial reports suggesting the <\/span><b>UK could return up to 50 people per week<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2,600 per year).\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;
