{"id":6451,"date":"2023-03-23T04:43:50","date_gmt":"2023-03-22T23:13:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=6451"},"modified":"2025-03-27T14:57:03","modified_gmt":"2025-03-27T09:27:03","slug":"pm-formalisation-of-micro-food-processing-enterprises-scheme-pmfme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/pm-formalisation-of-micro-food-processing-enterprises-scheme-pmfme\/","title":{"rendered":"PM Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme (PMFME)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About PM Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme (PMFME):<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>centrally sponsored scheme<\/strong> launched in 2020 with an <strong>outlay of Rs.10,000 crore<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Nodal Ministry: Ministry of Food Processing Industries.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Duration<\/strong>: It will be implemented over a <strong>5-year period<\/strong> from <strong>2020-21 to 2024-25.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Fund Sharing:<\/strong> The expenditure under the scheme would be shared in a <strong>60:40 ratio<\/strong> <strong>between Central and State<\/strong> Governments, a 90:10 ratio with North Eastern and Himalayan States, a 60:40 ratio with UTs with legislature, and 100% by Centre for other UTs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Objectives<\/strong>:\u00a0\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Formalization of micro units<\/strong> by means of GST, Udyog Aadhar, and FSSAI registrations.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Financial assistance<\/strong> <strong>to individual units<\/strong> for the upgradation of food processing facilities.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Quality improvement and skill development<\/strong> through training and technical knowledge.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Financial assistance to Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs)<\/strong>, Self Help Groups (<strong>SHGs<\/strong>), and producer\u2019s cooperatives <strong>for setting up common infrastructure facilities<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Branding and marketing support<\/strong> to FPOs, SHGs, and producer cooperatives.<\/li>\n<li>Support and <strong>assistance in availing bank loans<\/strong> and preparation of detailed project reports (DPR)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Financial Support:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Support to Individual micro-units:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Micro enterprises will get <strong>credit linked subsidy at 35% of the eligible project cost <\/strong>with a <strong>ceiling of Rs.10 lakh<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>beneficiary contribution will be minimum of 10%<\/strong> and the balance from the loan.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Support to FPOs\/SHGs\/Cooperatives:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Seed capital<\/strong> will be given <strong>to SHGs ( at Rs. 4 lacks per SHG) for loans to members<\/strong> for working capital and small tools.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Grant for backward\/ forward linkages<\/strong>, common infrastructure, packaging, marketing &amp; branding.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1)\u00a0What are Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs)?<\/h3>\n<p>A Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) is a type of Producer Organisation (PO) where farmers are its members. The PO is an organisation of any produce, such as non-farm products, agricultural, artisan products, etc., by producers.
