of nine Bonnet macaques near Palode in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Bonnet Macaques<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The bonnet macaque (Macaca radiata ), also <\/span><b>known as zati,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a species of macaque endemic to southern India.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Behavior: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These species<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are arboreal and <\/span><b>terrestrial quadrupeds<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, live in multimale-multifemale troops.<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They are <\/span><b>diurnal,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> meaning they are active during daylight hours.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They are highly <\/span><b>arboreal and are strong swimmers.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Communication:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> They have adopted a wide array of communication methods through gestures, facial expressions, and sounds.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Habitat:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> They are found in a variety of habitats, including <\/span><b>evergreen high forest<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and dry deciduous forest of the Western Ghat Mountains.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Distribution:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The presence of the species has been recorded in <\/span><b>Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat,<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Diet:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> They <\/span><b>are omnivorous<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and eat fruits, nuts, seeds, leaves, insects, soil, small invertebrates, eggs, and reptiles.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Reproduction:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The bonnet macaque gestation period (pregnancy) lasts <\/span><b>around 5-6 months<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Ecological Role:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Bonnet macaques that live within forests involuntarily help with tree reproduction by spreading their seeds throughout the landscape.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Conservation Status
