Forecasting (NCMRWF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with New Space India Limited (NSIL) to establish two Direct Broadcast Network (DBNet) stations in Delhi\/NCR and Chennai.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Direct Broadcast Network<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The DBNet is a <\/span><b>global operational framework<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> designed for the <\/span><b>real-time acquisition of satellite data<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from <\/span><b>Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It plays a critical role in <\/span><b>Numerical Weather Prediction<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (NWP) and supports a wide range of applications, including weather forecasting, cyclone monitoring, and climate research.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DBNet stations ensure <\/span><b>rapid data availability,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> hence significantly improving the accuracy and timeliness of weather forecasts and related services.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The proposed DBNet stations will be capable of receiving direct broadcast data from various existing Indian and international <\/span><b>Earth Observing System (EOS) satellites,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> including Oceansat, NOAA, and MetOp.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Key Benefits:<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Timeliness for NWP:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It provides the <\/span><b>near real-time availability of LEO satellite data<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which is essential for generating high-resolution, short- to medium-range weather forecasts.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Reduced Data Latency<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: DBNet captures data directly as <\/span><b>satellites pass overhead<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, overcoming
