{"id":6511,"date":"2025-12-04T10:41:19","date_gmt":"2025-12-04T05:11:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=6511"},"modified":"2025-12-04T13:50:44","modified_gmt":"2025-12-04T08:20:44","slug":"green-tug-transition-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/green-tug-transition-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"Green Tug Transition Programme"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Green Tug Transition Programme Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) virtually flagged off the steel-cutting ceremony for India<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">s first all-electric green tug Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), being developed under the Green Tug Transition Programme (GTTP).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Green Tug Transition Programme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It aims to transition India&#8217;s <\/span><b>harbour tug<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> fleet from conventional <\/span><b>diesel-powered vessels to greener alternatives.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was launched by the <\/span><b>Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways in <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2024.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Implementation:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under this programme, <\/span><b>50 green tugs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be <\/span><b>inducted by 2030<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with 16 to be deployed in the <\/span><b>first phase between 2024 and 2027.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Phase 1, two green tugs each will be stationed at DPA, Paradip Port Authority, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority and V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One tug each will be deployed at the remaining eight major ports.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is achieved through a phased approach spanning <strong>five phases from 2024 to 2040.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Nodal Agency:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> National Centre of Excellence in Green Port &amp; Shipping (NCoEGPS) will act as the nodal entity for this programme<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018Green Hybrid Tugs\u2019 will be powered by Green Hybrid Propulsion systems.
