{"id":6531,"date":"2023-03-24T12:35:19","date_gmt":"2023-03-24T07:05:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=6531"},"modified":"2025-03-27T15:25:33","modified_gmt":"2025-03-27T09:55:33","slug":"what-is-the-arudhra-radar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/what-is-the-arudhra-radar\/","title":{"rendered":"What is the Arudhra Radar?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Arudhra Radar:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Arudhra is a <strong>Medium Power Radar (MPR)<\/strong> designed and <strong>developed by<\/strong> the Defence Research and Development Organisation (<strong>DRDO<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<li>It will be <strong>manufactured by BEL<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Features:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>4D multi-function<\/strong> phased array radar with <strong>electronic steering<\/strong> in <strong>both azimuth<\/strong> (angular position from a reference direction) <strong>and elevation<\/strong> <strong>for<\/strong> surveillance, detection, and <strong>tracking of aerial targets<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It features a <strong>rotating active phased array antenna<\/strong> with <strong>solid state transceiver<\/strong> modules operating <strong>in S-band<\/strong> (2-4GHz).<\/li>\n<li>The transceiver modules (TRM) are based on the antenna array itself, leading to <strong>high receiver sensitivity<\/strong>, <strong>enabling the radar to detect low observable targets at a long range.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>It can track <\/strong>a small fighter-sized target <strong>as far as 300km<\/strong> <strong>at an altitude between 100 meters to 30 km.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Arudhra is <strong>fully programmable<\/strong> from the local Operator Work Station and from the remote Operator Work Station Unit.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Arudhra <strong>being a 4D radar<\/strong>, can <strong>determine the range<\/strong> (straight distance from radar), <strong>azimuth<\/strong> (angular position from a reference direction), <strong>altitude<\/strong> (distance from the ground), as well as <strong>velocity vector<\/strong> (representation of the direction of motion) of a target.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1)\u00a0What is Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL)?<\/h3>\n<p>Bharat Electronics Limited is an Indian state-owned aerospace and defence company with about nine factories, and several regional offices in India.
