{"id":65815,"date":"2025-09-30T12:28:54","date_gmt":"2025-09-30T06:58:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=65815"},"modified":"2025-09-30T12:28:54","modified_gmt":"2025-09-30T06:58:54","slug":"infectious-bovine-rhinotracheitis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/infectious-bovine-rhinotracheitis\/","title":{"rendered":"Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, Indian Immunologicals (IIL) has launched India\u2019s first indigenously developed glycoprotein E (gE) deleted DIVA marker vaccine against infectious bovine rhinotracheitis (IBR).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is endemic in India and caused by <\/span><b>Bovine Herpes Virus (BHV-1).<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BoHV-1 is a member of the <\/span><b>genus Varicellovirus in<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the subfamily Alphaherpesvirinae,<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a disease of <\/span><b>domestic and wild cattle.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>There are three forms: respiratory, genital and encephalitic<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the first two are more common.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Transmission: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The disease is transmitted through the <\/span><b>aerosol route and affects reproductive systems.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is also transmitted by semen from bulls to milch animals.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Impacts on Bovines:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Infertility, abortions and lower milk productivity are some of the major impacts of the disease.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Treatment: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is <\/span><b>no vaccine available<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in India and there is no specific treatment against this disease thus far.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Symptoms of Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is characterised by clinical signs of the <\/span><b>upper respiratory tract<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, such as a (muco)purulent nasal discharge, hyperaemia of the muzzle (red nose disease) and <\/span><b>by conjunctivitis.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Signs of general illness are fever, depression, inappetence, abortions and reduced milk yield.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/sci-tech\/science\/indian-immunologicals-rolls-out-indias-first-ge-deleted-diva-marker-vaccine-against-ibr\/article70108345.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">TH<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis is endemic in India and caused by Bovine Herpes Virus (BHV-1).
