{"id":65829,"date":"2025-09-30T12:35:22","date_gmt":"2025-09-30T07:05:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=65829"},"modified":"2025-09-30T14:57:02","modified_gmt":"2025-09-30T09:27:02","slug":"swachh-shehar-jodi-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/swachh-shehar-jodi-initiative\/","title":{"rendered":"Swachh Shehar Jodi Initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Swachh Shehar Jodi Initiative Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has launched the Swachh Shehar Jodi (SSJ) initiative.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Swachh Shehar Jodi Initiative<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>structured mentorship and collaborative action program<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> involving 72 <\/span><b>mentor cities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and around 200 <\/span><b>mentee cities.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Based on the recent performance in the Swachh Survekshan rankings, <\/span><b>top-performing cities have been identified as mentor <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">cities and paired with <\/span><b>low-performing mentee cities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. It is implemented under the <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/swachh-bharat-mission-sbm-urban-20\/\" target=\"_blank\">Swachh Bharat Mission \u2013 Urban<\/a> (SBM-U).<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is aimed to <\/span><b>foster knowledge and experience sharing,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> peer learning and transforming best practices in sanitation and waste management across urban India.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Objectives of Swachh Shehar Jodi Initiative<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The objective is to support comparatively low performing cities in improving their swachhata performance by drawing on the experience of mentor cities to:<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Replicate tested best practices<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in sanitation and waste management<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Implementation of Swachh Shehar Jodi Initiative<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is envisioned that the <\/span><b>mentor cities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be those cities that adhere to the following criteria:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Top performing cities that have featured across <\/span><b>Rank 1, 2 or 3 in Swachh Survekshan<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (SS) 2022, 2023, and 2024 ( i.e. \u2013 cities that are part of the Super Swachh League)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Top three cities that are featured across population <\/span><b>categories in Swachha Sarvesksha 2024.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Promising clean cities that emerge across States\/UTs as part of SS 2024.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>mentee city<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> may be selected on the baisis of the following criteria:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Featured in the <\/span><b>bottom of the State cumulative ranking of<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the latest SS rankings<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Geographical proximity of the jodi cities to each other<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Funding:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Both mentor and mentee cities may utilize the <\/span><b>Capacity Building (CB) Funds<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> allocated to each State\/UT as part of <\/span><b>SBM-U 2.0.
