{"id":66120,"date":"2025-10-02T11:49:03","date_gmt":"2025-10-02T06:19:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=66120"},"modified":"2025-10-03T16:40:09","modified_gmt":"2025-10-03T11:10:09","slug":"biomedical-research-career-programme-phase-iii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/biomedical-research-career-programme-phase-iii\/","title":{"rendered":"Biomedical Research Career Programme Phase III"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Biomedical Research Career Programme Phase III Latest News\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Union Cabinet has approved the continuation of the Biomedical Research Career Programme (BRCP), Phase-III.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Biomedical Research Career Programme Phase III<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will nurture <\/span><b>top-tier scientific talent<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for <\/span><b>cutting-edge biomedical research<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and promote interdisciplinary research for translational innovation.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is being implemented in partnership between the <\/span><b>Department of Biotechnology<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (DBT) and the <\/span><b>Wellcome Trust (WT), United Kingdom<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the SPV, India Alliance<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Time Period:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Between <\/span><b>2025-26 and 2030-31<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with an additional six-year support period until 2037-38.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Funding:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 It will have a total <\/span><b>outlay of \u20b91,500 crore<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, of which DBT will contribute \u20b91,000 crore and the Wellcome Trust \u20b9500 crore.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>In Phase-III, the following programmes are proposed to be implemented<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Early Career and Intermediate Research Fellowships in basic, clinical and public health: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These are globally recognized and tailored for the formative stages of a scientist&#8217;s research career.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Collaborative Grants Programme: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These include <\/span><b>Career Development Grants<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and Catalytic Collaborative Grants for 2-3 Investigator teams for early and <\/span><b>mid-senior career researchers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> respectively with strong research track record in India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Phase III will also focus on <\/span><b>strengthening mentorship, networking, public engagement<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and developing new and innovative national and international partnerships.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>What is the Biomedical Research Career Programme\u201d (BRCP) ?<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was first launched in in <\/span><b>2008-2009<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> through the DBT\/Wellcome Trust India Alliance (India Alliance), a dedicated Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It offered research fellowships, based in India, for biomedical research at the world class standards.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Subsequently, <\/span><b>Phase II<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was implemented in <\/span><b>2018\/19 with an expanded portfolio.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2173562\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Biomedical Research Career Programme Phase III will nurture top-tier scientific talent for cutting-edge biomedical research and promote interdisciplinary research for translational innovation.
