early momentum of the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses is successfully bridging policy intent and ground-level execution.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses \u00a0 <\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is aimed at boosting domestic production and achieving <\/span><b>self-sufficiency (Aatmanirbharta) in pulses.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Time Period:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The Mission will be implemented over a six-year period<\/span><b>, from 2025-26 to 2030-31.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It aims to <\/span><b>achieve self-sufficiency in pulses<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by significantly enhancing domestic production, reducing import dependence, and sustainably improving farmers\u2019 incomes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Mission plans to <\/span><b>expand the area under pulses cultivation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by an <\/span><b>additional 35 lakh hectares<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, targeting rice fallows and other suitable lands, while promoting intercropping and crop diversification.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Key Features of Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Comprehensive strategy:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The mission covers research, seed systems, area expansion, procurement, and price stability.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Focus on quality seeds:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> A key focus will be the development and <\/span><b>dissemination of high-yielding, pest-resistant, and climate-resilient pulses varieties,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> supported by a robust seed system.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This includes the production and distribution of <\/span><b>126 lakh quintals of certified seeds<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the free <\/span><b>provision of 88 lakh seed kits to farmers.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Seed Production:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> To ensure availability of premium quality seeds, states will prepare five-year rolling seed production plans.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>breeder seed production<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be supervised by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Capacity building:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Structured training programmes for farmers and seed growers to promote sustainable techniques and modern technologies.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Post-harvest infrastructure:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 To strengthen markets and value chains, the Mission will help develop <\/span><b>1000 processing units,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> thereby reducing crop losses, improving value addition.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A maximum <\/span><b>subsidy of Rs. 25 lakhs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be available for setting up of processing, packaging units.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Cluster-Based Approach:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Tailoring interventions to the specific needs of each cluster to enhance productivity, and promote geographic diversification of pulse production.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Procurement:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Assured maximum procurement of <\/span><b>Tur, Urad, and Masoor<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> under <\/span><b>Price Support Scheme (PSS) of PM-AASHA.<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>NAFED and NCCF<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will undertake <\/span><b>100% procurement<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in participating states for the next four years from farmers who
