NATO Pipeline System (NPS).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About NATO Pipeline System<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was set up during the <\/span><b>Cold War to supply NATO forces<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with fuel.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is approximately <\/span><b>10,000 kilometres<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> long, runs through <\/span><b>12 NATO countries<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and has a storage capacity of 4.1 million cubic metres.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The NPS links together <\/span><b>storage depots, military air bases, civil airports,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> pumping stations, truck and rail loading stations, refineries and entry\/discharge points.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Funding:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Bulk distribution is carried out using facilities from the common-funded NATO Security Investment Programme.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Controlled by:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The networks are <\/span><b>controlled by national organisations<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with the exception of the <\/span><b>Central Europe Pipeline System<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (CEPS), which is a multinational system managed by the CEPS Programme Office under the aegis of the NATO Support and Procurement Agency.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Structure\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is overseen by the <\/span><b>Petroleum Committee,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which is the senior advisory body in NATO on consumer logistics and, more specifically, on petroleum issues.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It reports to the Logistics Committee on all matters of concern to NATO in connection with <\/span><b>military fuels and other petroleum installations.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight:
