{"id":66870,"date":"2026-08-31T11:03:17","date_gmt":"2026-08-31T05:33:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=66870"},"modified":"2026-08-31T15:22:43","modified_gmt":"2026-08-31T09:52:43","slug":"pm-setu-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/pm-setu-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"PM-SETU Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>PM-SETU Scheme Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, in collaboration with the Government of Uttar Pradesh organized the PM-SETU Industry Conclave in Lucknow.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About PM-SETU Scheme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PM-SETU (<\/span><b>Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) is a <\/span><b>Centrally Sponsored Scheme<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> launched to strengthen India\u2019s <\/span><b>vocational training ecosystem.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It aims to <\/span><b>modernise the ITI ecosystem<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by upgrading <\/span><b>1000 government ITIs across India<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> into modern, industry-aligned training institutions<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Implementation:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is implemented as <\/span><b>a hub-and-spoke model<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with 200 hub ITIs linked to 800 spoke ITIs.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each hub will be equipped with advanced infrastructure, innovation and incubation centres, production units, training of trainer facilities, and placement services, while the spokes will extend access and outreach.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Objectives<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To improve the <\/span><b>quality of training delivery<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in <\/span><b>Industrial Training Institutes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ITIs) and National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs);<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To <\/span><b>modernize infrastructure<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and equipment as per industry standards;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To <\/span><b>introduce industry-aligned long-term and short-term courses<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, especially in new and emerging sectors;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To strengthen industry linkage for demand-driven skilling and better employment outcomes; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To enhance the capacity of NSTIs for training of trainers.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Financial outlay and Time Period:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 \u20b960,000 crore, over a <\/span><b>five- year period.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Nodal Ministry:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Components of PM-SETU Scheme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Introduce new, demand-driven courses and revamp existing ones in collaboration with industry;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Special Purpose Vehicles:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Set up Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) with credible Anchor Industry Partners to manage clusters and ensure outcome-based training;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Create pathways for long-term diplomas, short-term courses, and executive programs;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Strengthen 5 National Skill Training Institutes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in \u2013 Bhubaneswar (Odisha), Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Hyderabad (Telangana), Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh), Ludhiana (Punjab), as Centres of Excellence with global partnerships.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The initiative is backed by global <\/span><b>co-financing<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from the <\/span><b>World Bank and <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/asian-development-bank-adb\/\" target=\"_blank\">Asian Development Bank<\/a>.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleaseDetail.aspx?PRID=2304737&amp;reg=48&amp;lang=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PM-SETU Scheme aims to transform 1,000 Government ITIs across India into modern, industry-aligned training institutions.
