Some ban fishing. <strong>A few do not allow people to enter the area at all.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>MPAs currently <strong>cover about 6.35% of the ocean<\/strong>. However, <strong>only just over 1.89% of that area is covered by exclusively no-take MPAs<\/strong> that do not allow any fishing, mining, drilling, or other extractive activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What is the United Nations High Seas Treaty?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>It is the <strong>first-ever treaty to protect the world&#8217;s oceans<\/strong> that <strong>lie outside national boundaries.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is also known as the \u2018<strong>Paris Agreement for the Ocean<\/strong>.\u2019<\/li>\n<li>It is a <strong>legally binding treaty to protect marine<\/strong> life <strong>in international waters<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It aims to place <strong>30% of the seas into protected areas by 2030<\/strong> (a pledge made by countries at the UN biodiversity conference in 2022).<\/li>\n<li>It will <strong>provide a legal framework for establishing vast marine protected areas (MPAs<\/strong>) to protect against the loss of wildlife and share out the genetic resources of the high seas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1)\u00a0What are International waters?<\/h3>\n<p>International waters are those located outside any nation\u2019s territorial waters. Some refer to these waters as the open seas or the high seas. No nation \u2018owns\u2019 these waters.
