text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>treaty-based international intergovernmental organization.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was<\/span><b> launched in 2015 by India and France at the COP21 summit in Paris<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to promote solar energy as a sustainable solution for energy access and climate change.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Headquarters: National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) in Gurugram<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the <\/span><b>first international organization established in the country.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ISA\u2019s objective is to scale up solar energy and reduce the cost of solar power generation through aggregation of demand for solar finance, technologies, innovation, research and development, and capacity building.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ISA plays a key role in advancing global solar cooperation, enhancing energy security, and supporting the transition to cleaner energy systems.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ISA is guided by its <\/span><b>\u2018Towards 1000\u2019 strategy, which aims:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To<\/span><b> mobilize USD 1000 billion of investments<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in solar energy solutions<\/span><b> by 2030.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To deliver<\/span><b> energy access to 1000 million people using clean energy <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">solutions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To<\/span><b> install 1000 GW of solar energy capacity.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To<\/span><b> mitigate global solar emissions to the tune of 1000 million tonnes of CO2 every year.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ISA is <\/span><b>partnering with multilateral development banks (MDBs), <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">development financial institutions (DFIs), <\/span><b>private and public sector <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">organisations, civil society, and other international institutions <\/span><b>to deploy cost-effective and transformational solutions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> through solar energy,<\/span><b> especially in the least Developed Countries (LDCs) and the Small Island Developing States (SIDS).<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Membership<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Membership is <\/span><b>open to those solar-resource-rich States which lie fully or partially between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and which <\/span><b>are members of the United Nations.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Partner country status<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> may be granted to the <\/span><b>States which fall outside the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are members of the United Nations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Currently, <\/span><b>100+ countries are signatories,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with 90+ countries having ratified to become full members.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>ISA Assembly:\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the <\/span><b>apex decision-making body<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that comprises representatives from each member country.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Assembly deliberates matters of substance, such as the selection of the Director General, the functioning of ISA, approval of the operating budget, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;
