Indian Army\u2019s first dedicated communications satellite, the GSAT-7B, by mid-2028.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About GSAT-7B<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the <\/span><b>Indian Army\u2019s first dedicated communications satellite.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is <\/span><b>part of the GSAT-7 series <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">satellites.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is<\/span><b> expected to be launched<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) around <\/span><b>mid-2028.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At <\/span><b>five tonnes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, or 5,000 kilograms, it will be the <\/span><b>heaviest communication satellite India has ever built.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will sit in a <\/span><b>geostationary orbit.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Till now<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the <\/span><b>Indian Army<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has been <\/span><b>dependent on GSAT-7A <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and other surveillance satellites like the <\/span><b>RISAT 2BR1<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> imaging satellite for communication and surveillance operations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>GSAT-7B<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is designed to<\/span><b> provide Indian Army beyond-line-of-sight communications<\/b> <b>for deployed troops and military formations,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as well as weapon systems, airborne platforms, and other mission-critical assets.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will provide the army with<\/span><b> secure, round-the-clock connectivity across remote border areas <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and challenging terrain, supporting day-to-day military operations and effective battlefield command and control.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>GSAT 7 Series Satellites<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They are <\/span><b>advanced communication satellites<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> developed by the <\/span><b>ISRO <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to meet the <\/span><b>communication needs of the Indian defence services.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>GSAT-7 (Rukmini):<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is an advanced communication satellite developed by ISRO and primarily provides communication<\/span><b> services to the Indian Navy.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is <\/span><b>India\u2019s first military satellite.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>launched <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in August <\/span><b>2013 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">from an Ariane 5 ECA rocket from Kourou in French Guiana.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>GSAT 7A:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>launched <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on December 19, <\/span><b>2018<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It primarily provides communication services to the <\/span><b>Indian Air Force.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It also helps in satellite-controlled operations of UAVs.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>GSAT-7R (CMS-03):<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>launched <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on November 2, <\/span><b>2025<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a <\/span><b>replacement for the
