{"id":68879,"date":"2025-10-14T14:36:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-14T09:06:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=68879"},"modified":"2025-10-14T14:52:11","modified_gmt":"2025-10-14T09:22:11","slug":"virtual-museum-of-stolen-cultural-objects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/virtual-museum-of-stolen-cultural-objects\/","title":{"rendered":"Virtual Museum of Stolen Cultural Objects"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Virtual Museum of Stolen Cultural Objects Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, UNESCO launched the Virtual Museum of Stolen Cultural Objects at UNESCO\u2019s MONDIACULT conference.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Virtual Museum of Stolen Cultural Objects<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is an <\/span><b>innovative digital platform<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which reconnects communities <\/span><b>with their stolen cultural treasures.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Aim:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The project aims at designing <\/span><b>the first virtual immersive reality museum<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of stolen cultural objects at a global scale.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will contribute to <\/span><b>raising awareness among the general public<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to the consequences of illicit trafficking of cultural property and contribute to the recovery of stolen objects.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was launched at the <\/span><b>World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (MONDIACULT 2025).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The museum is financially supported by the <\/span><b>Kingdom of Saudi Arabia<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and the project was developed in <\/span><b>collaboration with the <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/the-international-police-organisation-interpol\/\" target=\"_blank\">INTERPOL<\/a>.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The digital museum currently displays almost 240 missing objects from 46 countries.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Sculptures from Indian temple<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The museum depicts two <\/span><b>objects submitted from India<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Two 9th-century sandstone sculptures from <\/span><b>Mahadev Temple, Pali, Chhattisgarh<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first, a <\/span><b>Nataraja figure<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, is described as showing Shiva in his cosmic dance.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The second figure, <\/span><b>of Brahma, the creator<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, is shown <\/span><b>seated in lalitasana<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with three visible faces and four arms holding sacred emblems like a rosary and the Vedas.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source:<\/b> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/indianexpress.com\/article\/explained\/explained-culture\/why-unescos-new-virtual-museum-of-stolen-cultural-objects-matters-10301398\/lite\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">IE<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Virtual Museum of Stolen Cultural Objects is an innovative digital platform which reconnects communities with their stolen cultural treasures.
