{"id":6893,"date":"2023-03-31T04:16:47","date_gmt":"2023-03-30T22:46:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=6893"},"modified":"2025-03-28T15:42:01","modified_gmt":"2025-03-28T10:12:01","slug":"what-is-the-sky-canvas-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/what-is-the-sky-canvas-project\/","title":{"rendered":"What is the Sky Canvas Project?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Sky Canvas Project:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is the <strong>world\u2019s first artificial meteor shower project.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The aim<\/strong> of the project will be to <strong>collect<\/strong> <strong>atmospheric data in the mesosphere.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Under this project, <strong>meteor-replicating particles will be installed in a satellite 250 miles (400 km) up<\/strong> and then <strong>released over a designated area<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>These <strong>metallic particles<\/strong> will be spheres with a <strong>diameter of 0.4 inches<\/strong> (1 cm) and a <strong>mass of a few grams.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The pea-sized balls<\/strong> have a secret chemical formula that causes them to <strong>light up from the friction of re-entry<\/strong> at speeds of up to five miles (8km) a second.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>ALE says they will <strong>travel more slowly and light up for longer than natural shooting stars<\/strong> &#8211; up to ten seconds each.<\/li>\n<li>They <strong>will be visible over a 125-mile (200 km) area.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The ingredients in the pellets can be altered to change the colour, which means that a multi-coloured flotilla of shooting stars could be created.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What is Mesosphere?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The mesosphere is a <strong>layer of Earth&#8217;s atmosphere<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It is <strong>directly above the stratosphere and below the thermosphere<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It extends from about <strong>50 to 85 km (31 to 53 miles) above our planet<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The transition between the mesosphere and the thermosphere<\/strong> is called <strong>mesopause.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Temperature decreases with height throughout the mesosphere<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>coldest temperatures in Earth&#8217;s atmosphere<\/strong>, about -90\u00b0 C (-130\u00b0 F), <strong>are found near the top of this layer.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1)\u00a0What is a Meteor?<\/h3>\n<p>A meteor is a space rock or meteoroid that enters earth&#8217;s atmosphere.
