Pacific (UN-GGIM-AP) for a three-year term till 2028.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management for Asia and the Pacific<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The UN-GGIM-AP is <\/span><b>one of the five regional committees<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the <\/span><b>United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the apex inter-governmental mechanism for making joint decisions and setting directions with regard to the <\/span><b>production, availability and use of geospatial information<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> within national, regional and global policy frameworks.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>History of UN-GGIM-AP<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>initially established in 1995<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as the Permanent Committee on GIS Infrastructure for Asia and the Pacific (PCGIAP).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>rebranded as UN-GGIM-AP in 2012<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, subsequent to the establishment of UN-GGIM in 2011.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Aim: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To address global <\/span><b>challenges regarding the use of geospatial information<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Members:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is represented by the <\/span><b>National Geospatial Information Agencies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of <\/span><b>56 countries<\/b><span <\/span><b>maximize the economic, social, and environmental benefits<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of geospatial information through cooperation, capacity development, and shared
