Manilal.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It <\/span><b>grows only in grasslands bordering shola forests in high-altitude regions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is the 48th species identified within the <\/span><b>carrot family, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">which <\/span><b>includes well-known plants<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> such as <\/span><b>carrot, coriander, cumin, fennel<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and ajwain.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the <\/span><b>first of its kind to be identified anywhere in the world.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has <\/span><b>white flower<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">s and <\/span><b>underground rhizomes.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It sprouts and <\/span><b>flowers only during the monsoon <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">season.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Key Facts about Eravikulam National Park<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is situated along the summit of the <\/span><b>Western Ghats <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in the high ranges of the Idduki District of <\/span><b>Kerala<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It covers an area of 97 sq.km.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>highest peak south of the Himalayas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the <\/span><b>Anamudi <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(2695 meters), is situated on the southern side of the park.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is also the <\/span><b>land of \u201cNeelakurinji\u201d,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the <\/span><b>flower that blooms once every twelve years.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Climate<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: The park receives heavy showers during the southwest (June\/July) and retreating (October\/November) monsoons and is <\/span><b>one of the wettest areas of the world.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Vegetation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: The major part of the park is covered with <\/span><b>rolling grasslands,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> but several <\/span><b>patches of shola forests <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are also found<\/span><b> in the upper part of the valley.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Flora<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Important flora includes Actinodaphne bourdilloni, Microtropis ramiflora, Pittosporum tetraspermium, Sysygium aronottianum, Chrysopogon Zelanieus, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The<\/span><b> shola grasslands <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are exceptionally <\/span><b>rich in balsams and orchids,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> including the long thought extinct variety Brachycorythis wightii.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Fauna<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Nilgiri Tahr, Gaur, Sloth Bear, Nilgiri Langur,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Tiger, Leopard, Giant Squirrel, and wild dog are the common species.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;
