text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AEO is a programme <\/span><b>under the aegis of the World Customs Organisation (WCO) SAFE Framework <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of Standards to secure and facilitate Global Trade.\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>WCO<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in June, <\/span><b>2005<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with a view <\/span><b>to secure the international supply chain, adopted the SAFE Framework of Standards <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(WCO SAFE FoS).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>AEO is one of the three pillars<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on which the SAFE FoS is formed.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AEO helps to<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">build a closer partnership between the customs department and the trade industry.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">WCO SAFE FoS<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is the basis of the Indian AEO programme.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>AEO <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is a <\/span><b>voluntary compliance programme<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which <\/span><b>enables Indian Customs to enhance and streamline cargo security <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">through close cooperation with the principal stakeholders of the international supply chain<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">viz. importers, exporters, logistics providers, custodians or terminal operators, custom brokers, and warehouse operators.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Launched by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (CBIC) as a pilot in 2011 and revised in 2016, the AEO programme merges India&#8217;s earlier accredited client programme.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is <\/span><b>implemented by the Directorate of International Customs of CBIC.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under the AEO programme, an <\/span><b>entity engaged in international trade<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is <\/span><b>approved by Customs as compliant with supply chain security standards and granted AEO statu<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">s &amp; certain benefits.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An AEO is a business entity involved in the international movement of goods requiring compliance with provisions of the national customs law.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once granted an AEO status, they are <\/span><b>entitled to faster clearances, deferred duty payments, and reduced inspection frequency.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thus, an entity with an AEO status can be <\/span><b>considered a reliable trading partner<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and a secure trader. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;
