countries have endorsed the Central Asian Mammals Initiative that identifies priority transboundary conservation regions important for conserving seventeen iconic mammal species of the region.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Central Asian Mammals Initiative<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>launched in 2014<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at the 11th Meeting of the <\/span><b>Conference of the Parties <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(COP11) to the <\/span><b>Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of Wild Animals (CMS).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It aims to <\/span><b>reverse the population decline<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of 17 migratory mammal species in 14 Central Asian countries where these species live.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CAMI presents a common framework to address major threats to the Central Asian migratory species.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It currently covers <\/span><b>17 species including<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Argali sheep, Asiatic cheetah, Asiatic wild ass, Bukhara deer, Eurasian lynx, gobi bear, goitered gazelle, kiang, Mongolian gazelle, Pallas\u2019s cat, Persian leopard, Przewalski\u2019s horse, saiga antelope, snow leopard, urial, wild camel, and wild yak.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The current <\/span><b>Programme of Work (2021-2026)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for CAMI initiative was adopted by <\/span><b>CMS COP13.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>What is the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species?<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is also known as the Bonn Convention, is an environmental treaty under the aegis of the <\/span><b>United Nations Environment Programme.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It provides a global platform for the conservation and sustainable use of <\/span><b>migratory animals and their habitats.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was signed in Bonn, Germany, <\/span><b>on 23 June 1979.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the only global and UN-based intergovernmental organisation established exclusively for the conservation and management of <\/span><b>terrestrial, aquatic and avian migratory<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> species <\/span><b>throughout their range.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Activities by CMS Parties may range from legally binding treaties (called Agreements) to less formal instruments, such as Memoranda of Understanding.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Conference of Parties (COP) is the decision-making organ of this
