announced that it has rolled out a nationwide deployment of advanced Network Survey Vehicles (NSVs).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Network Survey Vehicle<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>specialized infrastructure management tool<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> comprising vehicles equipped with advanced sensors and data acquisition systems.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These vehicles systematically collect data on road inventory and condition of National Highways.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Key Features of Network Survey Vehicle<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is equipped with <\/span><b>laser profilers, GPS and cutting-edge imaging technology<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is equipped with <\/span><b>advanced 3D laser-based systems<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> across all states and its network.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With advanced technology, NSV <\/span><b>surveys up to 300 km daily.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is usually a specialised van or SUV <\/span><b>equipped with multiple sensors and instruments.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It consists of Laser, <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/gps\/\" target=\"_blank\">Global Positioning System<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/gps\/\" target=\"_blank\"> (GPS)<\/a><\/strong>, Video image processing tools, High-resolution cameras, Inertial Measurement Units (IMU), and DMI (Distance Measuring Indicator).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Working of Network Survey Vehicle<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The survey will capture <\/span><b>13 types of defects<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, including crack measurement, ravelling, patch area, potholes, edge break, roughness, rutting, lane marking, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will also cover details like <\/span><b>carriageway type, road type, pavement and shoulder width<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, topography, median details, right of way, utilities, land use, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The data will be <\/span><b>collected for all projects involving 2\/4\/6 and 8 lanes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with NSV before the start of work and thereafter at regular intervals of six months.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Data collected through NSV survey will be <\/span><b>uploaded on NHAI\u2019s \u2018AI\u2019 based portal Data Lake,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> where it will be analysed to transform data into knowledge and subsequent actionable insights.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Raw survey data is encrypted and transmitted<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to the centralised NSV centre within 48 hours.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Expert teams, strategically <\/span><b>deployed across five zones,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> monitor and report findings systematically.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Within 10 days, raw data is transformed into actionable insights \u2014 a process that
