recently, sending ash plumes up to 8 kilometres above sea level.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Shiveluch Volcano<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is <\/span><b>one of the largest and most active volcanoes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> located on <\/span><b>Russia&#8217;s Kamchatka Peninsula,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> one of the most intense volcanic regions in the world.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s estimated to be between <\/span><b>60,000-70,000 years old.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>stratovolcano<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014a steep-sloped volcano composed of alternating layers of solidified ash, hardened lava, and volcanic rocks.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It sports a summit reaching 3,283 meters (10,771 feet).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many lava domes dot its outer flanks.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has had <\/span><b>more major eruptions than any other been continuously <\/span><b>erupting since August 1999<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, but <\/span><b>occasionally <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">undergoes <\/span><b>powerful been <\/span><b>spewing ash and steam intermittently<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014with <\/span><b>occasional dome collapses, pyroclastic flows, and lava flows<\/b><span
