In September 1992 the RCI Act was enacted by Parliament and it became a <\/span><b>Statutory Body on 22 June 1993.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Mandate:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> To regulate and monitor <\/span><b>services given to persons with disabilities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, to standardise syllabi and to <\/span><b>maintain a Central Rehabilitation Register<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of all qualified professionals and personnel working in the field of Rehabilitation and Special Education.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Nodal Ministry: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ministry of Social Justice &amp; Empowerment<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Objectives of Rehabilitation Council of India<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To regulate the <\/span><b>training policies and programmes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the field of rehabilitation of <\/span><b>persons with disabilities<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To bring <\/span><b>about standardization of training courses<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for professionals dealing with persons with disabilities<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To maintain <\/span><b>Central Rehabilitation Register<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for registration of professionals\/ personnel<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0The Council also <\/span><b>prescribes minimum standards<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of education and training for 16 categories of professionals and personnel allocated to RCI.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To <\/span><b>recognize the national institutes <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and apex institutions on disability as manpower development centres.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Council also prescribes minimum standards of education and training for <\/span><b>16 categories of professionals<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and personnel allocated to RCI.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2183258\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rehabilitation Council of India is a statutory body established by an Act of Parliament.
