{"id":70814,"date":"2025-10-29T13:21:44","date_gmt":"2025-10-29T07:51:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=70814"},"modified":"2025-10-29T13:35:11","modified_gmt":"2025-10-29T08:05:11","slug":"national-seeds-corporation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/national-seeds-corporation\/","title":{"rendered":"National Seeds Corporation"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>National Seeds Corporation Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Union Minister for Agriculture &amp; Farmers\u2019 Welfare and Rural Development, inaugurated National Seeds Corporation\u2019s state-of-the-art seed processing plant at Pusa Complex, New Delhi.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About National Seeds Corporation<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>established in 1963 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to undertake production of <\/span><b>foundation and certified seeds.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is under the administrative control of the Department of Agriculture &amp; Farmer\u2019s Welfare, <\/span><b>Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer&#8217;s Welfare.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>Schedule \u2018B\u2019 \u2013 Mini Ratna Category-I Company<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, fully owned by the Government of India.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Functions of<\/b> <b>National Seeds Corporation<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has been playing a pivotal role in producing and supplying quality seeds to farmers across the country.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It plays a key role in the implementation of various schemes of the Govt. of India like <\/span><b>\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/nmeo-op\/\" target=\"_blank\">National Mission on Oil Seed and Oil Palm<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (NMOOP)\u201d, \u201c<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/national-food-security-mission\/\" target=\"_blank\">National Food Security Mission<\/a> <\/strong>(NFSM)\u201d and <\/span><b>\u201cMission for Integrated Development of Horticulture<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (MIDH).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It provides <\/span><b>technical support to the seed producing agencies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> including State Seed Corporations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the <\/span><b>nodal agency<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for the implementation of the Central Sector Scheme to create <\/span><b>infrastructure facilities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for establishment of <\/span><b>processing plants and storage godowns<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in different states in the private sectors.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>SAARC seed bank<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> maintained by NSC with the grant in aid of the Govt. of India holds a larger quantity of seeds of different crops &amp; varieties.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2182930\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>National Seeds Corporation was established in 1963 to undertake production of foundation and certified seeds.
