{"id":71524,"date":"2025-11-01T16:21:39","date_gmt":"2025-11-01T10:51:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=71524"},"modified":"2025-11-06T10:57:10","modified_gmt":"2025-11-06T05:27:10","slug":"indian-institute-of-packaging-iip","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/indian-institute-of-packaging-iip\/","title":{"rendered":"Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Indian Institute of Packaging Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) opened its Bengaluru Centre recently.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Indian Institute of Packaging\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is an <\/span><b>autonomous body<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the field of packaging and working under the <\/span><b>administrative control of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Government of India.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>established <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on 14th May, <\/span><b>1966, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with its <\/span><b>headquarters and principal laboratories in Mumbai.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Institute set up its <\/span><b>first branch office at Chennai in 1971<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, followed by branches at <\/span><b>Kolkata, Delhi, and Hyderabad<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in 1976, 1986, and 2006, respectively.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The<\/span><b> main objective<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the Institute is to <\/span><b>promote the export market by way of innovative package design and developmen<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">t as well as to <\/span><b>upgrade the overall standards of packaging <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in the country.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Institute is involved in various activities like <\/span><b>testing and evaluation of packaging materials and packages, consultancy services, and research &amp; development<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> related to packaging.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Besides this, the Institute is involved in <\/span><b>training and education<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the field of packaging.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It<\/span><b> imparts training<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in innovative and aesthetic packaging to the <\/span><b>artisans, weavers, exporters, stakeholders, etc.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is closely working with various commodity boards and export promotion councils such as APEDA, Spices Board, MPEDA, Tea Board, MoFPI, and others.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Institute has linkages with international organisations and is a<\/span><b> founding member of the Asian Packaging Federation (APF);<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> a member of the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IOPP), USA; the Institute Packaging (IOP), UK; Technical Association of Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI), USA.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\">The Institute <b style=\"font-size: inherit;\">organizes a biannual event i.e. International Packaging Exhibition, i.e., INDIAPACK,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and a <\/span><b style=\"font-size: inherit;\">national contest for excellence in packaging, i.e., INDIASTARA.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/business\/new-iip-facility-in-bengaluru-will-play-vital-role-in-packaging-education-research-minister-piyush-goyal\/article70225842.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">TH<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) is an autonomous body in the field of packaging and working under the administrative control of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
