{"id":7247,"date":"2022-11-03T09:22:16","date_gmt":"2022-11-03T03:52:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=7247"},"modified":"2025-03-28T19:05:34","modified_gmt":"2025-03-28T13:35:34","slug":"zojila-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/zojila-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Zojila Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Zojila Day:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It aims to celebrate the gallant action by Indian troops in\u00a0<strong>&#8216;Operation Bison&#8217; in 1948<\/strong>\u00a0which was launched on the icy heights of Zojila pass, the gateway to Ladakh.<\/li>\n<li>This day marked the Indian Army&#8217;s historic win over the Pakistani regulars and infiltrators, and helped recapture the strategic Zojila Pass<\/li>\n<li><strong>This battle was also historic for the reason that tanks were used for the first time at such heights.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Zojila Pass:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Zojila is a pass connecting the Kashmir Valley with the cold Indus valley desert in Ladakh region through the 434-km strategic Srinagar-Leh National Highway.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It runs at an elevation of approximately 3,528 metres (11,575 ft), and is the\u00a0second highest pass on the Srinagar-Leh National Highway after Fotu La.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It is often closed during winter.
