{"id":7335,"date":"2022-11-05T11:51:59","date_gmt":"2022-11-05T06:21:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=7335"},"modified":"2025-03-28T20:04:33","modified_gmt":"2025-03-28T14:34:33","slug":"shyama-prasad-mukherji-rurban-mission-spmrm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/shyama-prasad-mukherji-rurban-mission-spmrm\/","title":{"rendered":"Shyama Prasad Mukherji Rurban Mission (SPMRM)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>About:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>What is SPMRM?\u00a0<\/strong>It was launched by the Prime Minister in February 2016 with a vision to provide\u00a0<strong>amenities to rural areas which are perceived to be urban\u00a0<\/strong>and have the potential to\u00a0<strong>stimulate local economic development<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Mission aim<\/strong>: Development of 300 Rurban clusters, in the next five years.<\/li>\n<li><strong>What is a \u2018Rurban Cluster\u2019?\u00a0<\/strong>It is a cluster of geographically contiguous villages with a population of about 25000 to 50000 in plain and coastal areas and with a population of 5000 to 15000 in desert, hilly or tribal areas.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Selection of the \u2018Rurban Clusters\u2019<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>There are\u00a0<strong>two categories of clusters under SPMRM: Non-Tribal and Tribal.\u00a0<\/strong>The process of selection varies for each of these categories.<\/li>\n<li>While selecting the Rurban cluster, the\u00a0<strong>State may identify a large village\/gram panchayat that are growth centers<\/strong>\u00a0with resources available in the area that could potentially lead the economic transformation of the region.
