{"id":73993,"date":"2025-11-18T12:42:14","date_gmt":"2025-11-18T07:12:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=73993"},"modified":"2025-11-18T13:39:23","modified_gmt":"2025-11-18T08:09:23","slug":"kwar-hydroelectric-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/kwar-hydroelectric-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Kwar Hydroelectric Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Kwar Hydroelectric Project Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Several labourers were rescued safely after a truck caught fire inside a tunnel at the Kwar hydroelectric power project on the Chenab river in the mountainous Kishtwar district of the Jammu region recently. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Kwar Hydroelectric Project<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a<\/span><b> 540 MW run-of-river hydropower project.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is located on the <\/span><b>Chenab River<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the <\/span><b>Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project is being <\/span><b>developed by Chenab Valley Power Projects Private Ltd (CVPPL).\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CVPPL is a <\/span><b>joint venture company between NHPC Ltd and Jammu &amp; Kashmir State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDC)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with equity contributions of 51 percent and 49 percent, respectively.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project shall generate 1,975.54 million units in a 90 percent dependable year.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b style=\"font-size: inherit;\">The Government of India is extending a grant <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of Rs. 69.80 crore towards the cost of enabling Infrastructure and also supporting the Union Territory of Jammu &amp; Kashmir by providing a grant of Rs. 655.08 crore for the equity contribution of JKSPDC (49%) in M\/s.
