{"id":74426,"date":"2025-11-21T12:45:41","date_gmt":"2025-11-21T07:15:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=74426"},"modified":"2025-11-21T13:34:59","modified_gmt":"2025-11-21T08:04:59","slug":"saral-sims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/saral-sims\/","title":{"rendered":"SARAL SIMS"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>SARAL SIMS Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Ministry of Steel has introduced a simplified registration facility called \u2018SARAL SIMS\u2019 under the Steel Import Monitoring System (SIMS), effective from November 21.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About SARAL SIMS<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a new system designed to <\/span><b>simplify the process of registration for imports<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of small consignments under the <\/span><b>Steel Import Monitoring System<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (SIMS).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Purpose: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is designed to ease the procedural burden associated with importing small quantities and export-oriented shipments through frameworks like <\/span><b>Advance Authorization, <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/special-economic-zones-sezs\/\" target=\"_blank\">Special Economic Zones<\/a> (SEZs), and Export-Oriented Units (EOUs).<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Key Features of SARAL SIMS<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will apply <\/span><b>to steel and iron items<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> falling under Chapters 72, 73, and 86 of the <\/span><b>Indian Trade Classification (Harmonized System), 2022<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> classification system.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Simplified Registration:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Importers need to <\/span><b>make a single annual declaration<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of their intended import quantity and <\/span><b>receive a SARAL SIMS number<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for multiple consignments throughout the financial year.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It eliminates the earlier requirement to generate a new SIMS number for every shipment.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Annual Return:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Importers must file an annual return by April 30 detailing actual imports made against SARAL SIMS registrations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The importer can avail the <\/span><b>facility of SARAL SIMS for-<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>SARAL SIMS for small imports:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Allows consignments <\/span><b>up to 10 tonnes <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with an annual cap of 500 tonnes for FY 2025-26, increasing to <\/span><b>1000 tonnes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from FY 2026-27.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>SARAL SIMS for export purposes:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Covers imports under <\/span><b>Advance Authorization<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, SEZ, and EOU routes without any quantity limit.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2192033\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SARAL SIMS is a new system designed to simplify the process of registration for imports of small consignments under the Steel Import Monitoring System (SIMS).
