{"id":74581,"date":"2025-11-22T13:25:26","date_gmt":"2025-11-22T07:55:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=74581"},"modified":"2025-11-22T13:43:59","modified_gmt":"2025-11-22T08:13:59","slug":"joint-crediting-mechanism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/joint-crediting-mechanism\/","title":{"rendered":"Joint Crediting Mechanism"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Joint Crediting Mechanism Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change participated in the 11th Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) Partner Countries\u2019 Meeting.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Joint Crediting Mechanism<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was first <\/span><b>proposed by the Government of Japan<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and was <\/span><b>officially launched in 2013.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Aim: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a Japanese initiative that aims to <\/span><b>facilitate diffusion<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of <\/span><b>leading decarbonizing technologies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and infrastructure through investment by Japanese entities and contributes to sustainable <\/span><b>development of partner countries.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s a <\/span><b>bilateral mechanism<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which is being implemented in accordance with <\/span><b>Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The JCM contributes to the <\/span><b>achievement of both countries\u2019 NDC<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Nationally Determined Contribution) by evaluating Japan\u2019s contributions in a quantitative manner and acquiring the part of credit.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It operates under the <\/span><b>United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (UNFCCC).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It complements other existing mechanisms, such as the <\/span><b>Clean Development Mechanism<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (CDM) and <\/span><b>Joint Implementation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (JI).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>India is one of the 31<\/b> <b>partner countries<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the Joint Crediting Mechanism.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Focus Area of Joint Crediting Mechanism<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This <\/span><b>mechanism focuses on priority sectors<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which includes renewable energy with storage, sustainable aviation fuel, compressed biogas, green hydrogen and green ammonia, and in hard-to-abate sectors.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2191915\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Joint Crediting Mechanism was first proposed by the Government of Japan and was officially launched in 2013.
