UGC, AICTE, and NCTE into one unified authority, marking the second attempt to establish a single higher education regulator in India.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>HECI: India\u2019s Proposed Single Regulator for Higher Education<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Higher Education Commission of India (HECI) Bill draws directly style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NEP 2020 criticised the existing system for being \u201cmechanistic and disempowering\u201d, with concentrated powers, regulatory overlap, and conflicts of
