


{"id":7543,"date":"2025-10-27T11:56:04","date_gmt":"2025-10-27T06:26:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=7543"},"modified":"2025-10-29T12:40:05","modified_gmt":"2025-10-29T07:10:05","slug":"periodic-labour-force-survey-plfs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/periodic-labour-force-survey-plfs\/","title":{"rendered":"Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Periodic Labour Force Survey<\/b> <b>Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the Monthly Bulletin of the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS), India&#8217;s unemployment rate fell to 5.2% in July 2025 from 5.6% in June 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Periodic Labour Force Survey<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It gives estimates of <\/span><b>key employment and unemployment indicators<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> like the Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR), Worker Population Ratio (WPR), Unemployment Rate (UR), etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>sample design<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the Periodic Labour Survey (PLFS) has been <\/span><b>revamped from January 2025.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As part of revamping of the sample design monthly rotational panel scheme has been implemented for both rural and urban areas wherein each <\/span><b>selected household is visited four times in four consecutive months<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>The redesigned PLFS aims to achieve the following objectives<\/strong><\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To generate key <\/span><b>employment and unemployment indicators<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> every month <\/span><b>for both rural and urban areas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at the all-India level under the Current Weekly Status (CWS).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To extend the <\/span><b>Quarterly PLFS results to rural areas,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> thereby producing quarterly estimates of labour market indicators for both rural and urban India under the CWS framework.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To provide annual estimates of key employment and unemployment indicators in both usual <\/span><b>status (ps+ss) and Current Weekly Status<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (CWS) for rural as well as urban areas.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This survey is <\/span><b>conducted by the National Sample Survey<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (NSO), working under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2157501\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PIB<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The periodic labour force survey is conducted by the National Sample Survey (NSO), working under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI).
