{"id":76923,"date":"2025-12-08T15:21:58","date_gmt":"2025-12-08T09:51:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=76923"},"modified":"2025-12-08T16:18:30","modified_gmt":"2025-12-08T10:48:30","slug":"haemorrhagic-septicaemia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/haemorrhagic-septicaemia\/","title":{"rendered":"Haemorrhagic Septicaemia"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Haemorrhagic Septicaemia Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, ten blackbucks have died in Jharkhand&#8217;s Jamshedpur in Zoological Park due to suspected Haemorrhagic Septicaemia.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Haemorrhagic Septicaemia<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is also known as <\/span><b>Pasteurellosis.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>bacterial disease<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> caused by certain serotypes of <\/span><b>Pasteurella multocida.<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The two common serotypes of P. multocida associated with the disease in these species are <\/span><b>types B:2<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (in Asia ) <\/span><b>and E:2<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (in Africa )<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These are geographically restricted to some areas of <\/span><b>Asia, Africa, the Middle East and southern Europe.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>major disease of cattle and buffaloes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> characterised by an acute, highly fatal septicaemia with high morbidity and mortality.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0In both species, <\/span><b>young animals and young adults<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are <\/span><b>more susceptible<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> than older animals.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Germs of this disease survive longer in <\/span><b>humid and waterlogged conditions.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Transmission:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 It can be transmitted by <\/span><b>ingestion or inhalation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, either during direct contact or via fomites such as contaminated feed and water.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Symptoms of Haemorrhagic Septicaemia<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Animals become dull and <\/span><b>have high fever<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0 They refuse to eat and salivate more than normally.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Swellings develop<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> typically and quickly, especially around the <\/span><b>throat, the brisket<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the dewlap and sometimes around the head.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Treatment:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 Vaccines are available;<\/span><b> Antimicrobial treatment<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> administered intravenously soon after the onset of disease can reduce mortality.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/news\/national\/jharkhand\/blackbucks-die-due-to-bacterial-infection-in-zoological-park-in-jharkhands-jamshedpur\/article70368673.ece\/amp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">TH<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Haemorrhagic Septicaemia  is a bacterial disease caused by certain serotypes of Pasteurella multocida.
