


{"id":77740,"date":"2026-06-13T12:28:48","date_gmt":"2026-06-13T06:58:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=77740"},"modified":"2026-06-13T14:45:40","modified_gmt":"2026-06-13T09:15:40","slug":"supernova","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/supernova\/","title":{"rendered":"Supernova"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Supernova Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to a study led by Indian researchers, observations of a supernova discovered in a galaxy about 90.7 million light-years from Earth could help astronomers improve measurements of distances in the nearby universe.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Supernova<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A supernova is the name given to the <\/span><b>cataclysmic explosion of a massive star.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Supernovae (SNe) are one of the most <\/span><b>violent explosions in the universe.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It can emit more energy in a few seconds than our sun will radiate in its lifetime of billions of years.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These spectacular events can be so bright that they outshine their entire galaxies for a few days or even months.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They\u2019re also the <\/span><b>primary source of heavy elements in the universe.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Types of Supernova<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Core-collapse supernovae (CCSNe)<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These are one of these cosmic fireworks occurring when a <\/span><b>massive star exhausts its nuclear fuel<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and can no longer support itself against the gravitational pull.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The most <\/span><b>common type of core-collapse supernova is Type IIP<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which happens when a massive red supergiant star (about 8\u201317 times the mass of the Sun) reaches the end of its life.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Process:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> When the star\u2019s <\/span><b>core collapses into a proto-neutron star,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the outer material falls inward, then bounces back from the surface, <\/span><b>creating a powerful shock wave.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When the shock reaches the surface, the star\u2019s outer layers break away and expand into space.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Thermal runaway supernova<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It can occur when <\/span><b>two stars orbit each other<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and one or both of those stars is a white dwarf.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If the stars in one of these binary systems collide, or if one of the white dwarfs absorbs enough matter from the other star, the <\/span><b>white dwarf can become a supernova.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2272106&amp;reg=3&amp;lang=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Supernova is the name given to the cataclysmic explosion of a massive star.
