\u201cIslands at the Crossroads of Maritime Networks within Indian Ocean Region\u2019\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Project Mausam<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is an <\/span><b>Indian government-led cultural-diplomacy and maritime heritage initiative<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> launched in <\/span><b>2014 by the Ministry of Culture.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It aims to <\/span><b>explore the multi-faceted Indian Ocean &#8216;world<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8216; &#8211; <\/span><b>collating archaeological and historical research<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in order to <\/span><b>document the diversity <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of cultural, commercial, and religious interactions<\/span><b> in the Indian Ocean.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A total of <\/span><b>39 Indian Ocean countries<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have been <\/span><b>identified <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">under Project Mausam.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>main objective<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the project is to <\/span><b>inscribe places and sites identified <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">under Project Mausam <\/span><b>as trans-national nominations for inscription on UNESCO\u2019s World Heritage List.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It also aims to <\/span><b>promote research<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on themes related to the <\/span><b>study of<\/b> <b>maritime routes <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">through international <\/span><b>scientific seminars<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and meetings and by adopting a multidisciplinary approach.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It aims to encourage the <\/span><b>production of specialized works<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, as well as <\/span><b>publications <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for the general public, with an attempt at promoting a broader understanding of the concept of a common heritage and multiple identities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project will have <\/span><b>two major units:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Project Research Unit<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>World Heritage Nomination Unit.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project is <\/span><b>implemented by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">as the <\/span><b>nodal agenc<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">y with <\/span><b>research support of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) and National Museum<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as associate bodies.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>What is Mission Mausam?<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was launched by the <\/span><b>Ministry of Earth Sciences <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in <\/span><b>2024<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is <\/span><b>implemented <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">by the <\/span><b>India Meteorological Department (IMD), the National Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and the <\/span><b>Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM).<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It aims to <\/span><b>improve weather and climate services,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ensuring <\/span><b>timely and precise observation, modeling, and forecasting <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">information for multiple sectors, including agriculture, disaster management, and rural development.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A key focus of the mission is <\/span><b>cloud physics research<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, crucial for effective weather modification.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To support this effort, <\/span><b>India <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is <\/span><b>setting up its first cloud chamber at the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to advance research in this field.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2204108&amp;reg=3&amp;lang=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Project Mausam is an Indian government-led cultural-diplomacy and maritime heritage initiative launched in 2014 by the Ministry of Culture.
