{"id":78469,"date":"2025-12-18T12:20:50","date_gmt":"2025-12-18T06:50:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=78469"},"modified":"2025-12-20T13:31:11","modified_gmt":"2025-12-20T08:01:11","slug":"india-coast-guard-ship-icgs-sarthak","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/india-coast-guard-ship-icgs-sarthak\/","title":{"rendered":"India Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Sarthak"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>ICGS Sarthak Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Ship Sarthak, an Offshore Patrol Vessel, recently made a port call at Chabahar, Iran.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About ICGS Sarthak<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the fourth in the series of five <\/span><b>Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> being <\/span><b>built by Goa Shipyard for the Indian Coast Guard (ICG).<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These <\/span><b>OPVs are multi-mission platforms<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> capable of undertaking <\/span><b>concurrent operations.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ICGS Sarthak was <\/span><b>commissioned <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on October 28, <\/span><b>2021<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 105-meter-long ship displacing 2450 tons is propelled by two 9100-kilowatt <\/span><b>diesel engines<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> designed to attain a maximum speed of 26 knots.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ship is fitted with state-of-the-art equipment machinery, <\/span><b>sensors, and weapons <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and has an I<\/span><b>ntegrated Bridge System, and Integrated Machinery Control System.<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That enables it to function as a command platform and undertake mandated Coast Guard charter of duties, including <\/span><b>search and rescue, combating maritime crimes,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and preserving and <\/span><b>protecting the marine environment.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will be <\/span><b>based <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">at <\/span><b>Porbandar, Gujrat,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and operate on India\u2019s western seaboard under the operational and administrative control of the commander, Coast Guard Region.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has a complement of 11 officers and 110 men.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsonair.gov.in\/indian-coast-guard-ship-sarthak-makes-first-ever-port-call-at-chabahar-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">NOA<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>India Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Sarthak is the fourth in the series of five Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs) being built by Goa Shipyard for the Indian Coast Guard (ICG).
