{"id":78671,"date":"2025-12-19T14:18:16","date_gmt":"2025-12-19T08:48:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=78671"},"modified":"2025-12-20T13:32:20","modified_gmt":"2025-12-20T08:02:20","slug":"national-council-of-science-museums-ncsm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/national-council-of-science-museums-ncsm\/","title":{"rendered":"National Council of Science Museums (NCSM)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>National Council of Science Museums Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) recently received two prestigious PRSI National Awards 2025 from the Public Relations Society of India (PRSI).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About National Council of Science Museums<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is an <\/span><b>autonomous society <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">under the <\/span><b>Ministry of Culture<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Government of India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>formed <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on April 4, <\/span><b>1978<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NCSM, with its <\/span><b>headquarters <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in <\/span><b>Kolkata<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, has its <\/span><b>own network of 26 science museums\/centres<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> spread across the country and <\/span><b>a Central Research &amp; Training Laboratory (CRTL) in Kolkata.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>CRTL <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is the <\/span><b>Council\u2019s central hub for professional training, research, and development.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>National-Level Centres of NCSM:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Science City, Kolkata<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Birla Industrial and Technological Museum (BITM), Kolkata\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum (VITM), Bangalore\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>National Science Centre, Delhi<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>National Science Centre, Guwahati\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Except for Science City, Kolkata, all have regional <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and sub-regional\/district science <\/span><b>centres called Satellite Units (SUs).<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, <\/span><b>NCSM develops Science Centres<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\/museums <\/span><b>for different States<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and Union Territories.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NCSM has also <\/span><b>developed<\/b> <b>several centres <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and galleries<\/span><b> for different Govt. organisations<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> such as ONGC, BEL, ICAR, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has also <\/span><b>collaborated internationally<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for the development of Museum<\/span><b>\/Science Centres or for galleries<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> such as the <\/span><b>Rajiv Gandhi Science Centre, Mauritius; \u2018India\u2019 gallery on Buddhism at the \u2018International Buddhist Museum\u2019, Kandy, Sri Lanka; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It also strives to communicate science to empower people through its <\/span><b>Mobile Science Exhibitions, Lectures <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and Demonstrations, <\/span><b>Training <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and Workshops, Publications, etc.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today, NCSM forms the <\/span><b>largest network of science centres and museums in the world under a single administrative umbrella.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2205266&amp;reg=3&amp;lang=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) is an autonomous society under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
