text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is an <\/span><b>initiative <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of the<\/span><b> Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (<a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/indian-national-space-promotion-and-authorisation-centre-in-space\/\" target=\"_blank\">IN-SPACe<\/a>).<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>first-of-its-kind<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> initiative aimed at<\/span><b> creating state-of-the-art space laboratories within Indian academic institutions.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>These labs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will provide<\/span><b> hands-on training to students <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">pursuing space tech courses in academic institutes spread across the country.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This initiative is intended to enable meaningful <\/span><b>industry\u2013academia collaboration<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and support India\u2019s long-term vision of becoming a leading global space economy.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under the scheme, <\/span><b>up to seven academic institutions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be <\/span><b>selected in a phased manner from different zones<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> across the country.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To ensure balanced regional representation, <\/span><b>one lab is proposed in each zone.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These <\/span><b>labs will also be available to Non-Governmental Entities (NGEs) for utilization<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in that zone.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>IN-SPACe<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will<\/span><b> provide financial support <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of <\/span><b>up to 75 percent of the total project cost, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with a <\/span><b>cap of \u20b95 crore per institution,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to be r<\/span><b>eleased on a milestone-linked basis.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The selection process will be carried out in two stages.\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Institutions will first be screened based on eligibility criteria.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Shortlisted applicants will then be evaluated and ranked by an Empowered Committee (EC), following which final selections will be made on a zone-wise basis.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Key Facts about IN-SPACe<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a<\/span><b> single-window, independent, nodal agency<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that functions as an a<\/span><b>utonomous agency in the Department of Space (DOS).\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is formed following the Space sector reforms to enable and<\/span><b> facilitate the participation of private players.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">IN-SPACe is responsible to promote,<\/span><b> enable, authorize and supervise various space activities of non-governmental entities\u00a0 (NGEs),<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> including\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Building launch vehicles &amp;
