{"id":79227,"date":"2025-12-23T13:10:24","date_gmt":"2025-12-23T07:40:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=79227"},"modified":"2025-12-23T14:30:11","modified_gmt":"2025-12-23T09:00:11","slug":"indian-council-of-forestry-research-and-education-icfre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/indian-council-of-forestry-research-and-education-icfre\/","title":{"rendered":"Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) will prepare a district-wise report on which hills meet the criteria to be considered part of the Aravalli Range, but strictly for the purposes of mining, the Union Environment Minister said recently.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE)<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the <\/span><b>apex body<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the <\/span><b>national research system in the area of forestry.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is an <\/span><b>autonomous organization under the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(MoEF &amp; CC), Government of India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Mission<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: To <\/span><b>generate<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, advance, and <\/span><b>disseminate scientific knowledge and technologies <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for ecological security, improved productivity, livelihood enhancement, and s<\/span><b>ustainable use of forest resources through forestry research and education.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Headquarters: Dehradun\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>History<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The journey of ICFRE was initiated way back towards the end of the nineteenth century with the advent of scientific forestry in India and the <\/span><b>establishment of the Forest School in Dehradun in 1878.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was on 5th June <\/span><b>1906, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">subsequently, that the<\/span><b> Imperial Forest Research Institute was founded<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by the Government of India for taking forward forestry research in the country.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>In 1986<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the <\/span><b>ICFRE was formed as an umbrella organisation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for taking care of the forestry research, education, and extension needs of the country.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finally, on 1st June <\/span><b>1991<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the<\/span><b> ICFRE was declared an autonomous Council<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> under the then Ministry of Environment and Forests.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Presently, <\/span><b>ICFRE, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with its <\/span><b>headquarters at Dehradun,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has a pan-India presence with its <\/span><b>9 Regional Research Institutes and 5 Centers <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in different biogeographical regions of the country.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The regional research institutes are located at Jodhpur, Dehradun, Shimla, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Ranchi, Bengaluru, Jorhat, and Jabalpur, and the centres are at Agartala, Aizawl, Allahabad, Chhindwara, and Visakhapatnam.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/sci-tech\/energy-and-environment\/district-wise-plan-to-demarcate-mining-areas-in-aravalli-range-in-the-works-environment-minister\/article70426659.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">TH<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (MoEF &#038; CC), Government of India.
