The transitions from fossil fuels will be undertaken in a just, smooth, sustainable and all-inclusive manner.\n<ul>\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>National Hydrogen Mission launched in 2021<\/strong>\u00a0aims to make India a green hydrogen hub.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Increased use of biofuels, especially ethanol blending in petrol, the drive to increase electric vehicle penetration, and the increased use of green hydrogen fuel are expected to drive the\u00a0<strong>low carbon development of the transport sector<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Smart city initiatives, integrated planning of cities for mainstreaming adaptation<\/strong>\u00a0and enhancing energy and resource efficiency, effective green building codes and rapid developments in innovative solid and liquid waste management.<\/li>\n<li>Improving energy efficiency by the\u00a0<strong>Perform, Achieve and Trade (PAT) scheme, National Hydrogen Mission<\/strong>, high level of electrification in all relevant processes and activities, enhancing material efficiency and recycling leading to expansion of circular economy, and exploring options for hard-to-abate sectors, such as steel, cement, aluminium and others.<\/li>\n<li>India is on track to fulfilling its NDC commitment of\u00a0<strong>5 to 3 billion tonnes of additional carbon sequestration in forest and tree cover by 2030.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Provision of\u00a0<strong>climate finance by developed countries<\/strong>\u00a0will play a very significant role and needs to be considerably enhanced.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>India\u2019s approach is based on the following four key considerations that underpin its long-term low-carbon development strategy:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>India has contributed little to global warming, its historical contribution to cumulative global GHG emissions being minuscule despite having a share of ~17% of the world\u2019s population.<\/li>\n<li>India has significant energy needs for development.<\/li>\n<li>India is committed to pursuing low-carbon strategies for development and is actively pursuing them, as per national circumstances<\/li>\n<li>India needs to build climate resilience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The two themes of\u00a0<strong>\u201cclimate justice\u201d and \u201csustainable lifestyles\u201d<\/strong>, alongside the principles of Equity and Common But Differentiated Responsibilities and Respective Capabilities (CBDR-RC), in the light of national circumstances, that India had emphasized at Paris, are at the heart of a low-carbon, low-emissions future.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Source :\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/pib.gov.in\/PressReleseDetail.aspx?PRID=1875816\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LT-LEDS based on their various responsibilities as per different national-level circumstances.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":7957,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":{"0":"post-7956","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-upsc-prelims-current-affairs","8":"no-featured-image-padding"},"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/7956","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/5"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=7956"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/7956\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/7957"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=7956"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=7956"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=7956"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
