


{"id":79876,"date":"2025-12-27T13:57:41","date_gmt":"2025-12-27T08:27:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=79876"},"modified":"2025-12-27T13:57:41","modified_gmt":"2025-12-27T08:27:41","slug":"t-chamaeleontis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/t-chamaeleontis\/","title":{"rendered":"T Chamaeleontis"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>T Chamaeleontis Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, astronomers used archival spectroscopic data from NASA\u2019s James Webb Space Telescope Mid Infrared Instrument (MIRI) to study polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in the spectrum of the young star T Chamaeleontis.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About T Chamaeleontis<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>young <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">but sun-like star in the small southern <\/span><b>constellation of Chamaeleon.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is located <\/span><b>about 350 light-years from Earth.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It can be found in the southern<\/span><b> celestial hemisphere.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is approximately 70 % of the size of the Sun and <\/span><b>temperature on its surface<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is <\/span><b>around 5111 K<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (4838 \u00b0C).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is surrounded by a <\/span><b>planet-forming<\/b> <b>disk called circumstellar disk<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that contains a wide gap\u2014likely carved out by an <\/span><b>emerging protoplanet.<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Normally, the dense inner regions of such disks act <\/span><b>like a protective wall<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or veil blocking much of the star\u2019s ultraviolet light from reaching the colder, outer regions.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Significance:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> This gap makes the system a key target for studying <\/span><b>how young planets<\/b> <b>interact with their natal disks<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and shape their surrounding environments during the early stages of planet formation.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>What are Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs)?<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These are flat, ring-shaped<\/span><b> molecules o<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">f <\/span><b>carbon and hydrogen.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They make up a fifth of all carbon <\/span><b>in interstellar space.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Origin:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> There is a hypothesis that <\/span><b>meteors brought PAHs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from space to young earth and created the first building blocks of life, attaching important value to their ability to survive in space.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Properties of Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They have a <\/span><b>relatively low solubility in water<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> but <\/span><b>are highly lipophilic<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and are <\/span><b>soluble in most organic solvents.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These hydrocarbons, on earth, are formed through <\/span><b>incomplete combustion or pyrolysis<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of <\/span><b>organic materials,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> such as fossil fuels and biomass.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When PAHs collide with other particles or <strong>a<\/strong><\/span><b>bsorb<\/b> <b>high-energy radiation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, they can have more internal energy than their weakest chemical bond can handle.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2208927&amp;reg=3&amp;lang=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PIB<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Know about T Chamaeleontis, a young sun-like star with a planet-forming disk.
