{"id":80048,"date":"2025-12-28T13:31:34","date_gmt":"2025-12-28T08:01:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=80048"},"modified":"2025-12-29T15:38:58","modified_gmt":"2025-12-29T10:08:58","slug":"dulhasti-stage-ii-hydropower-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/dulhasti-stage-ii-hydropower-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Dulhasti Stage-II Hydropower Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Dulhasti Stage-II Hydropower Project Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A panel under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change recently approved the 260-megawatt Dulhasti Stage-II hydropower project on the Chenab river in Jammu and Kashmir\u2019s Kishtwar district.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Dulhasti Stage-II Hydropower Project<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>260-megawatt<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> hydropower project proposed on the<\/span><b> Chenab River<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the Kishtwar District of<\/span><b> Jammu and Kashmir.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is an <\/span><b>extension of the existing 390 MW Dulhasti Stage-I <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hydroelectric Project <\/span><b>(Dulhasti Power Station)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which has been successfully <\/span><b>operating since<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> its commissioning in <\/span><b>2007 by the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under the plan, <\/span><b>water will be diverted from the Stage-I <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">power station through a separate tunnel measuring 3,685 metres in length and 8.5 metres in diameter to form a horseshoe-shaped pondage for Stage-II.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project also includes a surge shaft, a pressure shaft, and an <\/span><b>underground powerhouse <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">housing two 130 MW units, resulting in a total installed capacity of 260 MW and an annual energy generation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project is estimated to cost more than Rs 3,200 crore.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tribuneindia.com\/news\/j-k\/centre-clears-dulhasti-stage-ii-hydropower-project-on-chenab\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">TI<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dulhasti Stage-II Hydropower Project is a 260-megawatt hydropower project proposed on the Chenab River in the Kishtwar District of Jammu and Kashmir.
