{"id":80215,"date":"2025-12-29T15:13:34","date_gmt":"2025-12-29T09:43:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=80215"},"modified":"2025-12-29T22:56:53","modified_gmt":"2025-12-29T17:26:53","slug":"parvati-arga-bird-sanctuary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/parvati-arga-bird-sanctuary\/","title":{"rendered":"Parvati-Arga Bird Sanctuary"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Parvati-Arga Bird Sanctuary Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Government has declared the Parvati-Arga Bird Sanctuary of Uttar Pradesh as an Eco sensitive zone.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Parvati-Arga Bird Sanctuary<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Location:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is situated in <\/span><b>Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a permanent freshwater environment consisting of <\/span><b>two oxbow lakes namely Parvati and Arga.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is designated<\/span><b> as Ramsar site.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Fauna:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is the critically endangered <\/span><b>white-rumped vulture<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Gyps bengalensis) and <\/span><b>Indian vulture<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Gyps indicus), and the endangered <\/span><b>Egyptian vulture<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Neophron percnopterus) have all been recorded.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Invasive species such as the common <\/span><b>water hyacinth <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Eichhornia crassipes) is also found here.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Flora:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The Vegetation of the Sanctuary is representative of that of the indo-gangetive ecosystem.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>What is an Eco-Sensitive Zone?<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is also known as <\/span><b>Ecologically Fragile Areas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (EFAs).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These are areas <\/span><b>notified and regulated by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> around <\/span><b>Protected Areas, National Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Purpose of declaring ESZs<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To create <\/span><b>some kind of shock absorbers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to the protected areas by regulating and managing the activities around such areas<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To act as a <\/span><b>transition zone<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from areas of high protection to areas involving lesser protection.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Extent of ESZ:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> An ESZ could extend up to 10 km around a protected area.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsonair.gov.in\/government-declares-parvati-arga-bird-sanctuary-as-eco-sensitive-zone\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">News On Air<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Parvati-Arga Bird Sanctuary is situated in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh.
