{"id":80929,"date":"2026-01-04T12:18:34","date_gmt":"2026-01-04T06:48:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=80929"},"modified":"2026-01-05T16:46:00","modified_gmt":"2026-01-05T11:16:00","slug":"live-events-development-cell-ledc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/live-events-development-cell-ledc\/","title":{"rendered":"Live Events Development Cell (LEDC)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Live Events Development Cell Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Information and Broadcasting Ministry recently established a Live Events Development Cell (LEDC) to facilitate the expansion of the \u201cconcert economy\u201d, boosting employment and tourism in the country.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Live Events Development Cell<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was established by the <\/span><b>Ministry of Information &amp; Broadcastin<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>g<\/strong>, Government of India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Objective<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: <\/span><b>Support <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the <\/span><b>structured growth of<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> India\u2019s rapidly expanding <\/span><b>live entertainment industry <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>strengthen the country\u2019s emerging concert economy.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The LEDC will function as a <\/span><b>single-window facilitation mechanism<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> aimed at streamlining processes for the sector and <\/span><b>positioning India<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> among the <\/span><b>world\u2019s leading live entertainment destinations by 2030.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It <\/span><b>brings together representatives<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from the <\/span><b>Central and State governments, industry bodies, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and<\/span><b> major event companies to coordinate policy support <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and sectoral expansion.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Key Focus Areas:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Single-Window Clearance System<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> being <\/span><b>developed on India Cine Hub (ICH) for permissions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (fire, traffic, municipal, etc.) to ensure faster approvals and investor-friendly processes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Model SOPs for States<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>removal of redundant permissions.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Need for Establishing a Dedicated LEDC:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>organised live events market<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in India recorded a <strong>v<\/strong><\/span><b>aluation of Rs 20,861 crore <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in 2024, reflecting a <\/span><b>growth rate of 15 percent.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This sector currently outpaces several traditional media segments and maintains an expected compound annual growth rate of 18 percent.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The industry currently <\/span><b>supports over 10 million jobs across the value chain, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with a single large-format event generating more than 15,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As per the report data, Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities are emerging as significant cultural hubs.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Consumption across musical concerts, sports, and theatre rose by 17 percent, with over five lakh individuals travelling to other cities to attend events.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The establishment of the cell follows the address of the Prime Minister at the WAVES Summit in May 2025.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the summit, the Prime Minister highlighted the untapped potential of the live entertainment sector as a driver for investment, tourism, and cultural influence. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/news\/national\/ib-ministrys-live-events-development-cell-to-support-expansion-of-concert-economy\/article70467173.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">TH<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Live Events Development Cell (LEDC) was set up by the Ministry of I&#038;B to promote structured growth of India\u2019s live entertainment and concert economy.
