Bacterial diseases are caused by pathogenic bacteria that invade the body, multiply rapidly and disrupt normal physiological processes. While many bacteria are harmless or beneficial, disease causing bacteria can affect humans through contaminated food, water, air, wounds or direct contact.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Bacterial Diseases<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bacterial diseases are infectious diseases caused by unicellular microorganisms called <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/bacteria\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Bacteria<\/strong><\/a> that overcome the body\u2019s natural defenses and multiply in tissues. These bacteria may be aerobic or anaerobic, spore forming or non spore forming, and can survive in diverse environments including soil, water and living hosts. Pathogenic bacteria cause illness by releasing toxins, damaging tissues or triggering immune reactions. The time between bacterial entry and symptom appearance is called the Incubation Period, which varies across diseases such as cholera, tuberculosis and typhoid.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Bacterial Diseases List<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The list of Diseases caused by Bacteria are given below:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Diphtheria: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Caused by <\/span><b><i>Corynebacterium diphtheriae<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, it spreads through respiratory droplets, affects the throat, forms a pseudomembrane, and can cause breathing difficulty and suffocation if untreated.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Whooping Cough (Pertussis):<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Caused by <\/span><b><i>Bordetella pertussis<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, transmitted through airborne droplets, characterized by prolonged coughing spells, especially dangerous for infants due to breathing complications.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Tetanus:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Caused by <\/span><b><i>Clostridium tetani<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> spores entering wounds from soil, produces neurotoxins causing muscle spasms, jaw locking, and high fatality without immunization.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Cholera:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Caused by <\/span><b><i>Vibrio cholerae<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, spreads via contaminated food and water, leads to severe watery diarrhea, dehydration, and electrolyte imbalance within hours.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">T<\/span><b>yphoid Fever:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Caused by <\/span><b><i>Salmonella typhi<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, transmitted through contaminated water and food, results in prolonged fever, abdominal pain, intestinal perforation, and systemic infection.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Pneumonia:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Caused by bacteria like <\/span><b><i>Streptococcus pneumoniae<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b><i>Haemophilus influenzae<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, infects lung alveoli, causes fever, chest pain, breathing difficulty, and bluish discoloration in severe cases.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Tuberculosis:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Caused by <\/span><b><i>Mycobacterium tuberculosis<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, spreads through airborne droplets, mainly affects lungs, produces chronic cough, fever, weight loss, and blood-stained sputum.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Syphilis:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Caused by <\/span><b><i>Treponema pallidum<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, sexually transmitted, presents with painless ulcers, skin rashes, fever and can affect nervous and cardiovascular systems if untreated.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Gonorrhoea:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Caused by <\/span><b><i>Neisseria gonorrhoeae<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, transmitted through sexual contact, causes painful urination, pus discharge and infertility if untreated.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Leprosy (Hansen\u2019s Disease):<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Caused by <\/span><b><i>Mycobacterium leprae<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, spreads through prolonged close contact, leads to skin lesions, nerve damage, and sensory
