{"id":81589,"date":"2026-01-08T13:55:23","date_gmt":"2026-01-08T08:25:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=81589"},"modified":"2026-01-08T13:55:23","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T08:25:23","slug":"sports-authority-of-india-sai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/sports-authority-of-india-sai\/","title":{"rendered":"Sports Authority of India (SAI)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Sports Authority of India (SAI) Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Sports Authority of India (SAI) recently launched a four-day Sports Sciences Workshop for combat sports coaches at its Sports Science Division in New Delhi.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Sports Authority of India (SAI)<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the <\/span><b>apex national sports body<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of India, established by the <\/span><b>Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sport<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">s, Government of India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>set up in 1984<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to c<\/span><b>arry forward the legacy of the IXth Asian Games held in New Delhi in 1982<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> under the Department of Sports.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a<\/span><b> registered society fully funded by the Government of India.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SAl has been entrusted with the twin <\/span><b>objectives <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of <\/span><b>promoting sports<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and<\/span><b> achieving sporting excellence at the national and international level.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SAI\u2019s primary efforts include widespread <\/span><b>talent scouting and training of selected individuals<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by providing vital inputs like coaching, infrastructure, equipment support, sports kits, competitive exposure, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SAI has played a significant role in shaping India\u2019s sports development by providing <\/span><b>training to elite athletes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and at the same time<\/span><b> operating a number of schemes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for the identification and development of young talent.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>schemes <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are being <\/span><b>implemented through various regional centres<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and training centres of SAI spread throughout the country.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SAI <\/span><b>implements the following Sports Promotional Schemes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> across the country to <\/span><b>identify talented sportspersons<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in various age groups and <\/span><b>nurture them <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to excel at the national and international levels:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>National Centres of Excellence (NCOE)<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>SAI Training Centre (STC)<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Extension Centre of STC<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>National Sports Talent Contest (NSTC)<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition to that, a number of <\/span><b>academic programmes in physical education and sports <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are also offered by SAI.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SAI is also entrusted with the responsibility of<\/span><b> maintaining and utilizing,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on behalf of the Ministry of Youth Affairs &amp;
